Cravings....

Ok, so i know this sounds ridiculous, but i thought this was the only place i could post this, and maybe find someone who felt similarly.
since moving back from Rhode Island, i cant seem to stop thinking about the food there... quohogs to be specific, its the state shellfish/dish. i just cant describe how wonderful they are. well the food there in general... fried fish sandwiches, fresh oysters, home fries... the list goes on. i've tried filling the craving with clams or scallops, and even a traditional British fish and chips...BUT NOTHING is the same.

i absent-mindedly checked out some flights to America on my coffee break earlier..., i didnt even know i was doing it until the prices popped up.
i really can't stop thinking about it.
i'll post a photo...i'm sure you'll all see what im talking about.
i was just wondering if anyone else has something that they can't stop thinking about from abroad? anything?
im hoping someone is going through this as well...

  1. It does not not sound ridiculous at all. missing things from living there for so long is perfectly normal. how about trying cockles as an alternative, ive heard they are delicious! (dont quote me if im wrong though!)

I too, am in a simular situations. But i what i miss is not food, but a lovely cuddley creature. The humble Koala Bear. I JUST LOVE THEM. There cuteness cannot be explained without seeing them in the flesh and holding them. i've been looking up adopting one since i think it would be quite illegal for me to have smuggled one back for a pet. which i deeply considered! And can i help being slightly jealous of them?1 no of course not! they sleep most of the day and the rest of it they use to eat! who needs Aussie guys when i could just stare at these adorable creatures all day long!
    I admit it....

    I <3 KOALAS

  2. I've never seen anything like that - love that they fry it and put it back in the shell, I've never seen that.

    For my craving, one word:

    POUTINE!!

Canada's national dish of chips, cheese curds and gravy. Sounds uninspiring, perhaps slightly disgusting, definitely not healthy, but SO delicious! I'll blog a picture too.

  3. And Vicki, Koalas sound so cute!! It's a shame you can't have one as a pet, sounds like you'd never be sad about not being in Australia if you had a Koala to cheer you up!

  6. I like the smuggling Koalas idea, also going back to cravings and looking at that lovely seafood you posted Cat, I am craving honey mustard dressing like crazy! It is so so so good on chicken fingers, salad anything. I think we should work on getting some of our favourite food imported.
